PADI Specialty Instructor Courses

Becoming a PADI Specialty Instructor is all about making diving more fun and sharing what interests you. There are over 25 PADI Specialties to choose from. Once you become a Specialty Instructor of at least 5 courses, you’ll be partway to becoming a Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT).

The courses listed below may be taken individually or as a part of the Resort Operations Career Program.

BOAT DIVER

This 2-Dive Specialty aquaints divers with boat diving procedures, terms, safety, entrances and exits, and surface marker buoy skills. A perfect way to introduce shore divers to boat procedures and help them gain comfort in a new environment.

This 4-Dive Specialty helps divers learn to plan and conduct safe, enjoyable deep dives. One of our most popular specialties that pairs extremely well with Wreck Diver and Enriched Air.

digital underwater photography

This 2-Dive course provides divers with a framework to improve their photo and video abilities underwater. Students will learn about framing, lighting, and editing.

DRIFT DIVER

Teach divers proper drift diving procedure during this 2-Dive Specialty. A very popular instructor course at PVD as all of our off-shore diving is drift diving!

DSMB SPECIALTY

Help divers learn to safely and efficiently deploy their DSMB during 2 dives. An excellent insturctor specialty to pair with Drift Diver.

EMERGENCY OXYGEN PROVIDER

A must for any instructor who plans to teach rescue classes. This course teaches students how to safely and effectively administer oxygen during an emergency.

ENRICHED AIR

A key instructor specialty. Help divers learn to safely dive with enriched air up to 40%. Conduct this specialty through 2 classroom simulations or 2 open water dives.

EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST

Help divers become more familiar with the different types of equipment they use. They’ll learn proper care and maintenance during this non-diving course.

FISH IDENTIFICATION

This 2-Dive specialty is part of Project AWARE. Students will learn techniques for identifying fish as they begin to expand their knowledge of local fish families.

NIGHT DIVER

During this 3-Dive specialty, students will learn techniques for diving at night. They’ll practice proper communication, buddy procedures, and navigation as they explore the oean after dark.

SEARCH & RECOVERY DIVER

Students will build a toolbox of search techniques during this 4-Dive Course. They’ll practice search patterns on land and on open water dives. You’ll also help them learn to safely rig and surface a lift bag.

SELF-RELIANT DIVER

Always dive with a buddy…unless you’re a self-reliant diver! This 3-Dive specialty will teach students to safely explore the underwater world solo.

UNDREWATER NATURALIST

Teach students all about the underwater environment during this 2-dive specialty. From animals to plants, students will become skilled at identifying the different forms of life they encounter on their dives.

UNDERWATER NAVIGATOR

Help your students learn to navigate complex patterns during their dives. They’ll put their compasses to the test during this 3-Dive Specialty.

WRECK DIVER

One of our most popular instructor specialties here in South Florida. This 4-Dive specialty teaches students to evaluate and map wrecks. It also gives them practice with reel work as they learn to safely explore wrecks.
